As part of TECHXTILE project I would like to share the pattern instruction for this garment. A pattern is a two-dimensional diagram of a garment, drafted by what is known in the fashion industry as a pattern maker or pattern cutter. This thorough guide will teach you the basics of apparel digital pattern making from beginning to end in the program CLO3D

create your own pattern
Beforehand download CLO3D here
Start by clicking Avatar in the left slide Main Menu. There will appear a few folders at the bottom of the Main Menu. Click on the folder 'Female_V2' and scroll down until you see a woman body named 'FV2_Feifei.avt'

step two: draft rectangle
You begin with the rectangle tool, which you can find at the top of your 2D Pattern Window, the fourth icon from the left. Or hit S as keyboard shortcut. Place your first point on the centerline near the mannequin's neck
and pull it through beyond the hand
step three: add & edit points
Too add points on the rectangle you need the tool Add Points/Split Lines. Place the two points and then delete the point in the corner by clicking on it + remove button

Insert a new point and click on the Edit Pattern tool. Select the last point and drag with your mouse the point down

step four: clone drafts
It is possible to copy the first draft by ctrl + click on it and choosing the Symmetric Pattern (with sewing). By moving your mouse to the left you can place the second draft on your 2D Pattern Window
Copy the whole draft part in your 2D Pattern Window and paste it somewhere you want. I prefer under the first draft. Everything what you placed in your 2D Window panel will be seen exactly in your 3D Window panel

step five: flip draft
To flip your second copied draft you have to select the draft and do ctrl + click on the selection. There will be a pop-up window and go to Flip Normal. Now your draft have a front and a back garment. The dark gray color on the inside shows that it is the inside of the garment

Select the darker draft and drag it with your mouse to the back of the mannequin. Position the draft it in the middle of the body. The whole draft should be just a little above the shoulders, so that the sewing part will go well later

step six: sewing
Use the Segment Sewing tool or hit N as keyboard shortcut to sew segments between two points. With this tool you will be able to connect the drafts to each other to make it as one garment by clicking on the alignments. Follow the two footage here

step one: select avatar
Add three other points on the rectangle, like the third footage and remove the highest point afterwards

Take the Edit Pattern tool to drag the two highest points more up to the shoulder and drag the lower point more inward
Hit enter as keyboard shortcut to render your garment from 2D to 3D. Watch the nice and slowly movement of the garment. Now you have made your own pattern in CLO3D
